5 Iceland Winter Vacation Must Haves

Any vacation has its unexpected directions, but with unperdictable weather, here are 5 Iceland winter vacation must haves.

  1. CramponsThese slip right over your boots and were easily the most used item of our Iceland winter vacation. If you are planning on doing some hiking or adventuring, these are a MUST.
  2. Warm Mittens – Iceland in the winter is COLD, which says a lot coming from a Wisconsin gal. If my hands are cold, everything is cold. Extra hand warmers never hurt, but when you are in and out of the car all day something you want to deal with.
  3. Columbia Jacket – I actually brought two coats to Iceland. This jacket offers protection against the elements. We were never stuck in the rain, but getting close to the waterfalls gets you in the splash zone so you will want waterproof items.
  4. Water Bottle / Camel Back We spent days driving in the car sightseeing spots, so having a waterbottle in the car is essential. The camel back was great for our downhill skiing day, glacier tour, or longer hikes so we could keep our mittens on and be hands free.
  5. Waterproof Phone Case – These aren’t just for beach vacations, with the different waterfalls and all the hot springs you will want a waterproof phone case.
